This work is a descriptive account to sights and sceneries in India as seen in the year 1836. The areas described are Madras, Madura, Tritchengur, Seringapatam, Coorg, all through the chapters vivid descriptions are offered of the daily life, religion, various castes, animal population, wars, kings of the areas, 2 chapters are devoted to the criminal tribe of Phansigars. The narrative then goes to Muscat and returns to Bombay to describe the fort there and the Parsees, the elephanta caves, Salsette and ends with a description of an elephant and tiger hunt. The book is illustrated with 21 engravings by William Daniell.Comprising 22 engravings from original drawings by William Daniell and a descriptive account by Rev.
