Synopsis: |
This account to the court of Timour (Tamerlame) is one of the oldest travel accounts of Spain. The author was sent as a return embassy to the court of Timour at Samarkand in 1403. He wrote a description of all the countries that he passed through. He begins with a daily account from Cadiz to Constantinople before it fell to the Turks; he describes the dangers of his voyage on the Black Sea and recounts his adventures in the long journey to the kings court in Samarkand. Along with descriptions, he introduces some historical narrations. After a stay of 3 years he returned to Spain in 1406. It is translated by Clements R. Markham. |
