This dictionary has been written on the methodology of the results achieved from the Cumbre corpus. 'The Great dictionary of modern Spanish' includes: hundreds of new words, which do not appear in the most of general Spanish dictionaries. An enormous variety of archaisms or obsolete terms have been excluded too - The whole dictionary is included in the CD-ROM. This dictionary provides: more than 70,000 words and phrases; 150,000 meanings or definitions; 100,000 examples of real usage (extracted from "CUMBRE Corpus"); exceptionally detailed treatment of the usage frequency for each word, using abbreviations, frequency order for the meanings inside each entry, etc; phonetic transcription (International Phonetic Alphabet); syllabic division for spelling purposes and for the word division with a hyphen at the end of the line; common uses from Spanish America; grammar, spelling and punctuation information; abundant synonyms and antonyms, which are sorted according to the meanings; and, market, which is aimed at: the layperson, native students, and students of Spanish as a foreign language. |
