Synopsis: |
Born in London in 1946, Hamish Fulton is one of the most interesting characters from the innovative British art scene at the end of the sixties. Fulton worked out a personal art form; the walk, documenting his many walking journeys around the world. His "walk" is an intimate experience, renewed in each journey. His photographs and texts a visual representation of space and time covered. This book is published on the occasion of the one-man exhibition; "O Caminho para as montanhas come a aqui at the Museo de Arte Contemporanea de Serralves" in Porto. The book consists of a collection of black and white and colour photographs, depicting the distance covered by Fulton during a 43 day coast-to-coast walk. The walk is on pavements, roads and paths starting at the mouth of the Douro river in Porto ending at the summer solstice at the delta of the river Ebro in Catalonia. |
