Synopsis: |
This collection of essays and writings are by the architects of the American Midwest "prairie school" style of architecture. Between 1900 and the early 1920s, a group of American architects active in the Midwest gave birth to an original movement: the Prairie School. "Prairie" in the literal sense but also as the symbol of the will to assert the values of an American culture free from European influence. The Prairie School comprised talented architects such as: Barry Byrne, William Drummond, George Elmslie, Walter Burley Griffin, Marion Mahony, George Maher, Louis Sullivan, and Frank Lloyd Wright. |
