Synopsis: |
Over the last two decades, the Small Grants Programme (SGP) has supported communities to respond to environment and development challenges with sustainable livelihoods, community nature-based enterprises, and microfinance approaches that alleviate poverty, provide income, increase food security, and enhance overall well being. This publication presents the history and evolution of the SGP. It provides an account of its principal features: diverse partnerships which are its mainstay; and, the results and benefits achieved. Since its launch in 1992, the SGP has stayed true to its mandate of providing local and global environmental benefits within the framework of UNDP's sustainable development mission. |
