Synopsis: |
Compiled by a team of researchers led by Dr Tan Khee Giap. In formulating the competitiveness ranking indices (IPS-CRI), based on the methodology used in the World Competitiveness Yearbook, the research identifies the respective strategic strengths and limitations of most ASEAN countries, thereby highlighting the relative positions of Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam (Brunei is excluded due to data constraints), in terms of their comparative and competitive advantages. In view of the recent emergence of China as a regional economic powerhouse, the country has also been included in this ranking exercise. TARGET AUDIENCE: Economists, policy makers, researchers, academics, and those interested in the formulation of economic ranking exercises. |
