Bob Burns is his own man - a dogged Scots detective with a droll sense of humour, more interested in catching crooks than bootlicking his way up the promotion ladder. So, when his enquiries into a bizarre murder are blocked by his bosses, should he risk his careeer by carrying on regardless with the job in hand? Bob does it his way. There's nothing funny about murder, and nobody could be more serious about the pursuit of justice than Bob, yet a liberal peppering of humour seasons his investigations, thanks in no small way to the antics of his two unlikely sidekicks, a sexy forensic scientist ladyfriend with surprising tearaway tendencies and a gullible rookie constable who, albeit disarmingly, is hopelessly keener than bright.
