The Ilolex CD-ROM contains the trilingual (English/French/Spanish) database of the International Labour Organization pertaining to international labour standards with its computer program (search and retrieval software). Each language version contains the ILO conventions, ILO recommentations, the triannual report of the committee on freedom of association from 1985, comments of the committee of experts on the application of conventions and recommendations from 1987, the annual report of the conference committee on the application of standards from 1987, the reports of committees and commissions established under Arts 24 and 26 of the ILO constitution to investigate representations and complaints, ratification lists by convention and by country, and the ILO constitution. The Ilolex CD-ROM should be of interest to academic and other institutional libraries interested in labour law as well as the ILO-constituency. The International Labour Organization (ILO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations dealing with social issues. It is characterized by tripartism: representatives of governments, employers' organizations and workers' organizations take part in ILO decision making.As of 13 January 1992 it had 153 member states. One of the primary functions of the ILO is the establishment of international legal instruments, like conventions and recommendations, dealing with inter alia human rights, occupational health and safety, social security conditions of work, and child labour. The whole body of international legal instruments are referred to as the international labour standards or Code. the ILO is also responsible for the supervision of compliance with these standards and carries out this task via committees. |
