Synopsis: |
With over 70 photographic examples, illustrations and purpose made diagrams, Guitar for Kids is a clear and fun guide on first steps of learning to play Guitar. As well as for the individual this book can also be used by a teacher for 1-1 or group lessons. Starting with advice on buying your first guitar, how to hold the guitar correctly and how to tune it. The book goes into a bit of detail for some basic techniques (you might as well get it right from the start rather that develop bad habits!) and is presented in a clear and fun way. Tablature is explained clearly. Simple melodies are written in tablature, starting with melodies that use only open strings (open strings means the fretting hand is not used) and towards the end are Blues and Rock duets to play with a friend. As tablature on its own doesn't indicate rhythm, numbers are added underneath the pieces to indicate rhythm. All musical pieces and exercises have audio tracks to play over in styles like Rock, Blues, Pop, Flamenco, Jazz and Reggae. Includes 47 downloadable mp3 audio tracks. EZ chords are covered (EZ stands for "easy" chords with less notes).Full versions are also shown for when a bit older or fingers are stronger. Includes an introduction to Power chords with some Rock pieces to play. Although sight-reading from normal notation is popular with many childrens' guitar method books this one does it differently; it's not until the end of the book! Before that however, reading the rhythm of normal notation is covered within the chords section, so that by the time you get to sight-reading the only unfamiliar aspect is reading the different notes. At the end of the book there is a quiz, no cheating! Please Note: this eBook has musical pieces, which unlike text are not flowable, therefore not suitable for smaller screens. |
