Synopsis: |
John Herries McCulloch's "Sheepdogs and their Masters" is one of the classics of the sheepdog world. In 1952, he planned an update, to take in the then newly introduced "Stud Book of the International Sheep Dog Society", and the interest in how genetics affected breeding. Paper shortages meant that instead of a third edition of Sheepdogs and their Masters', McCulloch wrote instead a new book, "Sheepdog Studies", incorporating his ideas, a study of genetics, including a special exploration of J M Wilson's Cap (ISDS 3036) and other dogs of the time. Very few copies survive of the 1952 edition; this reprint contains all the original material, plus notes on modern genetics from OptiGen, and notes on John Purdies's Tam and Trim from ISN. |
