Having worked as a newspaper reporter, a manager of a food co-operative, a co-ordinator of a rural health service and a VISTA volunteer, Janet Rose thought her next step was to build her practice as a psychotherapist in a large south-eastern city. In the summer of 1986, however, almost overnight, her life took a radical turn. Following inner mystical guidance, she turned west, to the mountains of Colorado, to find God more deeply. In her quest for genuine wisdom, compassion and service, she left behind the vestiges of her previous life to pursue a path of renunciation and to apprentice herself to a spiritual teacher. How she made that choice, what that commitment entailed and how it changed every aspect of her life is what this book is about.
