Synopsis: |
This book uses all the letters from book 1 and also introduces 'b, i, g, x'. in the concept of 'box' and 'big box'. Each picture acts as a mnemonic/memory aid so that children can learn the concept of 'in', as opposed to the concept of 'on', and the concept of 'big' by association with these picture. They should then be taught to segment (split up) each new word it into its phonemes so that they learn the phoneme/grapheme (sound/letter) correspondence of each letter. They should then be able to blend the letters back together to say each word. This process is known as synthesizing, and the teaching method known as 'Synthetic Phonics'. |
