Der Herzinfarkt stellt 65% aller akuten Notfalleinsatze dar und bildet noch immer eine vitale Bedrohung. Uber 270,000 Herzinfarkte ereignen sich jahrlich in Deutschland und uber 150,000 dieser Akutsituationen fuhren zum Tod. Heute sind die Pathomechanismen, die zur hohen Sterblichkeit fuhren, bekannt, und neue medikamentose Strategien konnen hier Leben retten. Dazu gehoren Substanzen, die sowohl die Gerinnungsablaufe beeinflussen als auch die Bildung eines Thrombus und damit des definitiven Gefassverschlusses verhindern.
