Synopsis: |
This paper builds on and implements the vision set out in "High quality care for all: NHS Next Stage review final report (The Darzi report, 2008, Cm. 7432)" (ISBN 9780101743228). The focus will be on protecting and improving frontline services, supporting NHS staff to make these services more preventative and patient-centred, to lock in the progress of the last decade, and to create major productivity gains. Chapter 2 expands on: more right for patients; accelerated improvement in quality in cancer, cardiac care, stroke care, maternity and patient experience; transformed services for those with long-term conditions such as diabetes, dementia, COPD; and, up to 10 per cent of hospitals' income to be dependent on patients' experience and satisfaction. Implications for NHS staff are covered in chapter 3, dealing with skills, training, employment terms and conditions. Chapter 4 describes how the system will support NHS staff and organisations to deliver. |
