Piet Grobler (1959) is 'n welbekende, veelbekroonde en internasionaal erkende Suid-Afrikaanse kinderboek-illustreerder, sowel as 'n gevestigde kunstenaar wat se werk plaaslik en oorsee aftrek geniet. In hierdie boekie beeld Piet Grobler die alfabet op sy eiesoortige, baie oorspronklike manier uit. By elke letter laat hy die voeltjie iets se en doen; een drink 'n glas leeg en breek 'n wind op (Burp!), 'n ander sit rustig op 'n tak tot 'n appel op sy kop val (Doink!), en ander voeltjies eet wurms (Njam!) of le eiers (Plop!). Elke letter beslaan twee bladsye. Daar word telkens hoof- en kleinletters verskaf. Die interaksie tussen teks en illustrasie is baie snaaks: So breek 'n houtkapper 'n "T" met sy snawel middeldeur (Tok-tok-tok ...) en maak 'n ander voel sy nes bo in die "Y". Die voeltjies se ABC is 'n bekoorlike boekie wat vir ieder en elk plesier sal verskaf! |
