Synopsis: |
The Report presents the analytical framework developed by the BEFS project which examines the relationship between food security and bioenergy. The report also provides an overview of the BEFS tool box used to carryout the quantitative analysis on the dynamics of the bioenergy and food security interfaces. The report is meant to acquaint the general public and in particular policy makers with the BEFS Analytical Framework, the tools that it offers and how these tools can be applied to assist policy makers in making informed decisions on the basis of clear information concerning the many varied consequences of bioenergy developments on food security, poverty reduction and agriculture development and economic growth. This analytical framework has been implemented in Peru, Tanzania and Thailand. The results of the country implementations are published in the FAO Environment and Natural Resources Management working paper series. |
